Why Rotary? from Rotary International on Vimeo.

Our club

The Deerfield Rotary Club was founded in 1930, and is part of Rotary International, a humanitarian service organization with more than 34,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. For more than 100 years, Rotary has brought together leaders from diverse backgrounds who take action to improve the lives of people close to home and around the world. We supports service projects that provide clean water, support education, fight disease, promote peace, save mothers and children, and grow local economies. Since 1988, Rotary has also had a goal of ridding the world of polio. With our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we are finally "This Close" to ending polio.

Locally, we have sponsored youth exchange students and scholars who travel overseas as ambassadors for Rotary as they learn in their field of study while staying with host families. We also sponsor an annual Fourth of July 10K race, purchase school supplies for children from disadvantaged homes for Nicasa, serve as Salvation Army bell ringers during the holiday season, provide volunteers for the Deerfield Park District’s Halloween Hoopla community event, and take part in a variety of other community activities. We are also part of a project with other clubs in our Rotary District to help the Ak’ Tenamit settlement in the jungles of Guatemala with clean drinking water, education, and economic development.
